2016 Jones Winery & Vineyard Malbec

Tasting Notes

With its seductive deep, crimson colour and notes of toasted fennel seeds, choc mint and dark fruits, this wine is complex and enticing.  Rich and savoury with lingering fruit flavours and chalky tannins make this one a pleasure to drink.

Winemaking Notes

Made from grapes grown in our 12-year old vineyard.  The grapes were harvested by hand on 15th February 2016 then fermented in open vats, hand-plunged then pressed.  Malolactic fermentation and maturation in barrel then fined with egg white prior to bottling.  The wine was matured for 18 months in oak barrels, 50% of which was new French oak.  Alc. 14.2%, cellaring well for up to 8 years.

Food Matches

Great with cassoulet, game and braised red meat dishes. Try with beef ribs grilled on the BBQ.

Drinking Tip

Most enjoyable in mid-winter with duck cassoulet, your best friends with an open fire nearby.
