Description
Tasting Notes
With deep, complex aromas of blackberries and mulberries with meaty overtones this wine is rich and bright. The palate is sturdy and svelte with a pleasing balance of freshness and savoury bold tannins. Enjoyable now but will benefit from further ageing.
Winemaking Notes
Made from estate grown Durif vines that are 7 years old. The grapes were harvested by hand on 22nd February 2016, fermented in open vats, hand-plunged then pressed. Malolactic fermentation and maturation were carried out barrel. The wine was matured in 470-liter, new (30%) and one-year old French oak barrels for 18 months. Prior to bottling it was fined with egg white. Alc. 14.8%, cellaring well for up to 12 years.
Food Matches
A wine that is great with all red meat dishes, especially a simple grilled steak, roast venison or lamb shanks.
Drinking Tip
At the lunch table after a long winter walk.
