2015 Jones Winery & Vineyard Shiraz
The bouquet is complex with notes of spice, red berry fruits and chocolate. The palate has great persistence of flavour; rich fruit of cherries and plums, spice and black pepper. The rich palate is backed by abundant yet fine tannins. The complex finish has bold intensity of chocolaty, berry flavours and is pleasantly long.
Made from grapes grown in some of our older vineyards. The grapes were harvested by hand on 16th and 19th February 2015, destemmed and then fermented in open wooden vats with hand-plunged. Malolactic fermentation and maturation in barrel then fined with egg white prior to bottling. The wine was matured for 18 months in oak barrels, 30% of which was new French oak. Alc 14.8%, cellaring well for up to 8 years.
Great with cheese, game and red meat-based dishes. Try with sautéed duck breast or a pink rack of lamb with breadcrumb and herb crust.
With a delicious meal with good friends and plenty of time.
